What Not To Buy
Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales are not necessarily the best sales of the year.

The Black Friday sales ads for Target, Best Buy, and Sam's Club list a Nikon 3400 for $499, but reviewers of the Nikon 3400 complain it is the Nikon 3300 with less features. The Walmart ad lists an Cambio 10.1" tablet with Windows 10 and only 2gb RAM, which is okay if you don't mind a slow tablet. The Best Buy ad lists a Xbox 360 bundle, but Microsoft is no longer making the Xbox 360, making it obsolete before it's unwrapped.

Black Friday is not the best for jewelry sales (April, July, or August are better). End of winter sales are better for coats and bedding. It's not the best time of year to buy toys; that would be at the last minute before and after Christmas, but by then the selection isn't as good. September is the best time to buy complete computer systems. Big name TVs have better prices in February generally, but third-tier manufacturers have better Black Friday prices. [Best times to buy other items can be found at DealNews & Lifehacker]
