What Not To Buy
Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales are not necessarily the best sales of the year.

Black Friday is not the best for jewelry sales (April, July, or August are better). End of winter sales are better for coats and bedding. It's not the best time of year to buy toys; that would be at the last minute before and after Christmas, but by then the selection isn't as good. September is the best time to buy complete computer systems. Big name TVs have better prices in February generally, but third-tier manufacturers have better Black Friday prices. [Best times to buy other items can be found at DealNews & Lifehacker]

Each year the Twin Cities Calendar compares advertised Minneapolis - St. Paul Black Friday sales. We also report trends and list special hours at the malls.
