National Referee Lockout
September 26, 2012
NFL football is the most-watched comedy on television.
Sunday Night Football (Baltimore Ravens - New England Patriots)
had 21.27 million viewers. Monday Night Football (Seattle
Seahawks - Green Bay Packers) had 15.5 million viewers.
Millions tune in to see what kind of ridiculous penalty calls the replacement referees
make (Failure to Tag Second, Foul Ball, etc.).
The NFL
referee lockout is arguing differing retirement benefits, and
it's about control. The NFL wants more referees. They want to be able
to pick and choose what referees to play.
Now, why would they want to play different referees, unless they wanted
to affect the outcome of the... oh!
In American Needle v.
the National Football League, the NFL argued that it is
not 32 separate entities but one single entity, a single entertainment
unit. [1,
2]
If NFL teams are a single entertainment unit (like the WWE) instead of
a sports federation, then fair
play is as fictional as a team mascot.
Nick
Fruscello blogs a list of 21st century Super Bowl games
pre-packaged with background stories and happy endings. MaximumWins
tells the story of the 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers - San Diego Chargers
game and the post-game decision to change the score from 17-10 to
11-10. Brian
Tuohy at the Bleacher Report explains the influence of $1
billion per week gambled on NFL games, which rivals the $20.4
billion TV rights the NFL receives from CBS ($3.73B), NBC
($3.6B), Fox ($4.27B), and ESPN ($8.8B). A 30-second spot on
NBC's Sunday Night Football
is $545,000. Economics professor John
Vrooman of Vanderbilt University explores the Economic Structure of the NFL.
To the NFL, winning is about economic statistics ($$$), not sports
statistics.

Stuck on AutoDrive
September 24, 2012
Recently my novel, Hopes
and Dreams: Stuck on AutoDrive was called a trophy book...
a book that people display as an accomplishment.
I don't know how to take that.

World Tops World Record For Least Ice
September 20, 2012
This week's cool wind from the Arctic includes mists of ice cap
memories.
NASA
satellites recorded the smallest Arctic ice cap they'd ever
seen.
The ice cap may have been hit by a huge storm. Former Massachusetts
Governor Mitt Romney believes 47% of it was taken by President Obama.

iPhone5 Smashes Sales Records Before Being Available
September 17, 2012
I don't have an iPhone5. Nobody does.
The iPhone5 left Zhengzhou, China yesterday on some container ships.
AT&T won't say how many people have pre-ordered the iPhone5,
just
that it is the "most
successful iPhone5 launch."
How could it not be the most successful iPhone5 launch?!?
It's the only
iPhone5
launch.
