Star Trek Into Darkness (aka. Star Trek 12) is a thriller that takes reheated and remixed Star Trek leftovers presented as new material and performed by a Star Trek tribute band. Even in its dedication to and orientation around 9-11, it's about a decade late.

Once you acknowledge all of that, it's not half bad.

Makes me wonder if Star Wars VII (by director J.J. Abrams) will be a retread of Star Wars V but focused on terrorism by the Empire.

Oldly going where previous movies have gone before.

It started yesterday afternoon with a text message out of the blue skies from Dr. Stan, “sup.”

I replied, “Supper? You want supper?” I thought about listing off entrées but stopped myself.

He asked, “R U OK?” He has such an economy of characters. His phone plan must be really restrictive.

I called him. He acted like I woke him. He must have been Sleep Texting. Apparently he was concerned about me based on my recent posts.  I couldn't imagine anything wrong with my posts. He must see them as Rorschach ink blots.

I've always thought Mr. Rorschach was a frustrated artist with a cheap and problematic pen. I said so.

Then Dr. Stan starts talking about Facebook Superheroing, and that's when I knew this has nothing to do with me and everything to do with him. He said people don't know how to ask for help. (He may have been proving his own point.) He said they get on Facebook and hint about problems and think that the hint is the same as reaching out for a hand. They must imagine modern superheroes sitting on social media waiting to leap on the slightest hint of trouble.

“People need help,” Dr. Stan said, “but they don't ask.”

And I said that Clark Kent wouldn't work for a newspaper. He would just watch for hints in Lois and Jimmy's tweets.
